Roasting for My Coffee House

Well I managed to get to my coffee house and crank out a few dozen pounds of Arabica beans.  Sunday is my day off but owning a business (aka coffee house) means youyare never off.  So off I went to the store to roast up a storm.  I usually have a few norms for our standards so I roasted my espresso blend and then some decaf espresso.  Well I got to what I thought was costa rican left in green beans, but I had none.  So i tried some colombian in a dark.  We’ll see how is tastes this week.  I am actually looking fwd to it!  I usually don’t roast anything dark but brazil or cost rican so this is gonna be a test!  I also had some sidamo left for the roast of the week this week.  I love that sidamo.  So smooth and kind unlike most Ethiopians.  Then I ran the errands for home and the store.

That was my day.  I am going to try to upload some pics of me roasting.  Just have to figure out how lol  Thanks for reading!  Talk latte.

Gourmet Coffee Facts

I said I’d be back so here I am!  I had a couple thoughts to share with you about coffee in general.  Here are some interesting, and lesser known facts about coffee.

·         Coffee is the second largest traded commodity in the world.  The first is oil.

·         The best coffee beans are Arabica beans.  They come mainly from Central and South America, Indonesia, Africa and Ethiopia.  They are grown in high altitudes from 4,000-6,000 feet.

·         The beans are green before roasting, and range from light brown to dark brown after roasting, depending on the roast desired.

Not much but it’s a start for ya’ll.  I gotta go and get some stuff done.  Down here in Texas, we just say git lol

Latte!

Hello world!

Ok, how exciting it is! This is my first post here. In fact, it’s my first blog ever. Heard about it but never did it so here I go.

My name is Tony DiCorpo. I own a coffee house in Hutto, TX. Hutto is about 18mi NE of Austin. We are, incidentally the hippo capital of the world. The hippo is our town and school mascott. I’ll tell you the legend sometime. Anyway, my coffeehouse is called Java Rocks Coffeehouse and Roastery. I roast coffee, and I sell it. Mochas, lattes, frappes, plain drip joe…..plain and simple! Well not exactly plain nor simple, as we are special! But nonetheless, we do what we do and do it awesome! It’s also a fun place to hang out. Stop by if you are in the area. Sooner or later you are going to come through Hutto. Sorry but it is a fact!

Sometime I am going to talk about coffee but not yet. I just set this thing up and I have to think a bit before I spill my guts to ya’ll. So just chill! I’ll be back, I promise! Talk latte!
